I recently moved to Eagle River, Alaska and have gotten bit by the military vehicle bug. I ave been a US Army Soldier and NCO for 20 years now so I guess it fits. While talking with a friend recently I was discussing the two M151s he had at his house and he offered one to me. The price was the gas it took to trailer it down from Fairbanks, about 350 miles. So without further ado, here is the rather sad looking beginning to my project. She will run but cuts out after about 30 seconds so troubleshooting that currently.
Sitting in front of it is not the engine from my jeep, but a spare that I picked up for $200 that was removed from a running and driving one the Army was cutting up. It is a 1962 according to the data plate. The front fenders have been horribly repaired previously and I will be working to rebuild that as it should be. There is liberal other body damage but limited rust. It originally had part of a hard top kit installed that after discussion with my spouse, we decided that had to go, we are going to run a canvas top instead. I will add more in the appropriate area of the forum as this build makes progress.
Thanks for viewing.
