would one with a connection to a machinist be able to cut center out of old fan..... weld in new center and drill new holes to match? Just wondering if 150 bucks was worth this used one off a c7 to have on hand.

Well anything is possible with the right tools and talent. Since the plastic fan is molded around the center plate you would have to watch the heat applied...
Your old fan has a center? The new fan is the one with the steel center plate. The old one is the one with the big hole through it, and the rubber grommets that many people don't like.
