Howdy fellow MV folks!

My name is Brad Walker, I'm in Poulsbo, Washington and have a 1984 M923A2 personnel carrier. I am an avid kayaker as well. I'll sometimes throw a couple in the back, looking like an oversized Woody with surfboards, this the screen name.

I've been lurking for a while, but finally decided to sign up to see the pictures in the rebuild threads...who knew, that helped a lot

Working on the air dryer for the brake system now, and will want to get some more fiberglas bows to get the soft top evened out.

That's it for now, but thought I should introduce myself. This site has already been instrumental in understanding the truck and keeping it going!

Thanks in advance for all the gray info, and look forward to seeing more!
Brad

Welcome to the site. White water or flat water kayak ? I come from a family that has paddled most the rivers on the east coast and a few that aren't.

Thanks for the welcome, theeDIZ. I live in the Puget Sound area, so we use 16' and 17' "sea kayaks" that are designed more for the salt-water and waves. Lots of water time in the Hood Canal, Puget Sound, and all the little inlets...we're never more than a couple miles away from some body of water here. Paddling in 3'-6' swells is pretty common, and not much different than the bounce of driving a 5-ton

Welcome to the site! I'm also a kayaker, but out of necessity; I live in rural southeast Alaska on an island with no cars. So I'm also used to paddling in some nasty conditions!

Howdy neighbor, and welcome.
Your avatar looks like an m923, did someone change it back to duals?
Hi elkhtr - I bought it from a private party, but I'm pretty sure it left JBLM with duals on the rear. I have one spare in the rack, and it came with another - all are the smaller tire 11:00 R20. It doesn't have the CTIS, so maybe it's the A1, not the A2?

Yours looks like an "A0", that is, a straight M923 (M939 series). M923A1 would've had the super singles but would have still had the Cummins NhC250 engine. A M923A2 would have the super singles, CTIS, a 6CTA 8.3L Cummins engine, and a turbo.

"A0" isn't necessarily a true term, just used by people like us to distinguish one from an A1 and A2. Does my explanation make sense?
