Just posting the obligatory introduction post: I'm from Houston, Texas and I do not (yet) own any MV's, although I'd sure like to. I was born in 1950, and am a former Marine infantryman. I drove several M35's as a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, but I was never assigned to motor transport in the Corps. My biggest problem in trying to own a military vehicle is figuring out where to keep it, as I live in a residential neighborhood with a rather uncooperative homeowner's association. I do own a Jeep Cherokee that I have been modifying for off-road use (welded front winch bumper, 33x12.50-15s, etc.) At some point in the future I intend to buy a 1/4 T military Jeep trailer for the Cherokee.

Anyway, looking forward to the day when I own a MV, and until then I'll be learning good stuff from you guys.

Howdy! Welcome to the site!

I live on the north side of town (Lake Conroe area) and work in downtown Houston. There are a number of guys on this site from the Houston area.

In my opinion, waste no more time and get the M35! I also live in a "residential neighborhood with a rather uncooperative homeowner's association." My solution was to rent a RV storage unit. Rent is $105 a month, which is very conducive to my green addition.

Welcome from Fort hood. I have the same issue. It seems that fort hood family housing (on post housing) has some sort of issue with OD green sitting out side my house. Lol.

Which side of Houston are you on? I live in the Spring area and found a storage facility on I45 that charged $60/mo for a space. The manager did not mind me wrenching on it there either. It is easy to get in and out of for a big truck.

Mark, is $60/month for a spot in an open lot, covered parking or fully enclosed?

It is a non covered slot. I put a tarp over my soft top to keep the sun off. I also have locking door handles and pad locks on all my tool boxes. I never had any problems.
