What happens when GL does not list a year on a listing? Can you still get a title? What about insurance?

Yep, it happens a lot. What you do is, depending on what the item is, put the serial number and any other information you DO have in the http://www.steelsoldiers.com/members-rides/80494-2012-vin-info-thread.html, and there are some nice guys willing to look up that year and other information for you. Because after you buy something from GL, and after you do the whole EUC process, you have to get on GL's website and request the SF97 titling paperwork for it. And when you do that, you have to enter the year, and make, and weight. So yes you still can get the title and insurance, but you do have to have the year before you can.

It might just be they were lazy and didn't list it. You should be able to track down the year when you preview. You can also dig up the year with the serial number. The SF-97 or title (depending on where you live and what they have to send you) will be filled out as per paperwork YOU send to them after the recovery.

Being from Michigan, you don't even need an SF-97. Just download a TR-205 form from SOM - State of Michigan, fill it out, submit it to the SoS with a copy of your paid-in-full invoice and you'll get your title in 7-10 days. As far as the year... just pick one if you can't figure it out. They don't verify any of the information on the TR-205. Once you have your title in hand, then you can get your insurance.

I don't know what was going on in 2009 but I specifically know of three trucks that were titled without an SF-97 just this year and have heard of at least a half dozen more. Different SoS branches might not know how to handle the TR-205 but as long as you have a legal PIF invoice from GL (Which shows the sales tax paid), you shouldn't have any problems getting a title.
