Looking at the weather this morning there is supposed to be a huge dump of snow all over! So please post some pics of your trucks either in action or buried in the snow!

Here are some pics of trips to the top of Mt Evans, CO, in the winter after the road is no longer maintained. A group of us have been providing transport to the maintenance crew for the Observatory up on top at 14, 000 ft plus.

You guys did a lot of shoveling in pic 5! How long did it take you to get through that spot? I know how much hard work this is....hat to do it up on Pearl Pass one Fall.....we had 5 people but at 11'300 feet of elevation you get "winded" pretty quickly....lol

Cool pics. And a cool job. I say job cause I know how hard that is. There are some trails that we traditionally open in the spring that require building the "train track" so you don't fall off the trail...... It looks like you have things well in hand but if you need help with that job let me know.

What a cool topic. Now I can't wait for it to snow again so I can participate.

Yeah, it's tough shoveling ice and snow at up to 14k ft. Worst part is the stuff is hard enough you have to break it, then shovel it. We used picks and axes on some of it LOL. That stretch took about 3 hours to 'railroad track' (I like that description, and it certainly is required to keep the trucks on the mountain). The sloping ice is the reason that snow machines can't be used. It's thousands of feet to the bottom in most places.

The mid-Nov trip failed. Just too much snow. I don't participate since moving out of CO.

BTW Jollyroger, I lived in Littleton, cough cough Centennial, on Grant St.

Well harvest has been long this year. We are often done in the first week of november but its looking like weve got a couple days left and might be done before Christmas. The 6x6 has been an essential part of our operation this fall. Getting in and out of the field in mud or snow and pulling out our civilian trucks when they got stuck. I even had to drive the m919 thru a mud bog to get the combine unloaded when it broke an axle in the middle of the mud. I was 65000 lbs loaded with corn and left 15 inch ruts in the mud getting the corn out and then pulling the combine to dry ground so we could fix it. The 919 and m818s have been able to get thru the fields with 15 inches of snow and thru drifts pushing 3 foot of snow(m919). Im so thankful that I decided to pursue the military trucks. My dad who was skeptical is now a true believer;-)
