Oil in air tank

I drained my air tank when I got home from work today and when I walked out to close the valve I noticed a small puddle of oil under the tank. Anybody have any suggestions on what may cause oil to enter the air system?

Thanks.

Just my 2cents but if you haven't cleaned the air compressor filter in awhile you might want to try that. Excessive restriction can cause more oil to be drawn past the compressor piston rings

I have a green oily substance that drains from the tank after driving.....

Normal?
Certainly. That is oil from the compressor which is also engine oil.

And it is a good thing as it keeps corrosion limited, as long as you drain tanks daily.
