The oil recommendations are climate dependent. Here in Texas I like to use 40w mobile + 1 gallon of Lucas oil stabilizer. If I lived in colder weather I would use 30w or in very cold I would use 10w30. A lot of people use Rotella I just prefer Mobile both are good. I would always recommend using 1 gallon Lucas at every oil change regardless of the brand of oil. You will want to be sure to use high detergent oil. It will last longer

I use Rotella, but then my Daughter works at Advance Auto, so I get a considerable discount. One thing about synthetic.... I had a Buell motorcycle and had rebuilt it verry time consumingly and perfect. All was good, NO leaks as I took my time in that area. I went to the dealer and wanted to change all the oils before taking a trip from So. Cal to northern Utah (730-ish) miles. I asked the mechanic about running Rev-Tec synthetic, and he said "If there any possable leaks, they would appear useing synthetic" So I'v always taken that to heart on less refined motors. However I did use Mobil 1 in the Vette always with no problems ever.

Rotella 15W40 with 2 QT Lucas oil treatment. So far very happy with oil pressure building and cold weather cranking.

Use any good name brand 15W40 oil. I have used Rotella, Mobil Delvac, Pennzoil, Valvoline, and others. I buy what's on sale as long as it is a good name brand. If all else is equal, I like Rotella, Delvac and Pennzoil in that order.

I use Chevron Delo 15W40 in our Deuce and in our farm tractors and have had good luck. That being said, I also think the Shell Rotella 15W40 is an excellent choice.

I use Delo 15W-40, but I would go with any quality diesel rated 15W-40.
My first M35A2 had 15W-40 stenciled on the underside of the hood so you could not miss it when the hood was up.:-D
