Heading out in a couple of hours for the Temple, TX airshow and mini-SS member get together.

Not driving a MV but taking some MV parts with me. Does that count as MV related?

Bringing some Rapco 383 CARC Green and Rusty Red primer. Any one need some?

Also bringing a few MBU units.

If someone need something brought back, let me know. It has to be small as I will be driving a Sub-Compact.....

Heard a little about that recovery. Looking forward to some pics.

I want to thank all the Texans for allowing a lowly Okie to grace your presence.

And a double thanks for allowing me to be first inline at the chow line saturday night....

It involved my M1028 on a AAA rolloff, my M101A2 on Buckmaw's F-250 and my M109A3 on M813rc's M931A2 w/towbar, in two separate incidents that are remarkably similar. Both are fuel delivery related and might be as simple as clogged filters or as complex as a bad IP. After I sleep I will start looking into it, starting with the 1028 that the tow truck operator annoyingly deposited in a manner blocking 2/3 of my three car driveway...

At least the 1028 had the courtesy to do it's miscreant deeds where we ended up next to the Dairy Queen! Our originally planned chow hall closer to home looked very closed when we rolled by at 0330...

I walked in my door at 0525. For a trip that began at 1830 and is normally completed in two hours including securing the vehicles at home plate.....:)

Cheers

WOW! I got the call on the 1028 problems and just figured the rest of the trip was simple. I am kind of glad you didn't call me at 0330, but also feel bad I couldn't help now that I have read the rest of the story.

Where did you buy your fuel Sam? Just so I will know where not to stop.

And I thought a 4 hour return trip was pushing it. I hit the rack at 1430 (after a good dose of missed meds from the night before). Woke up at 1830 for 2 hours and then back to bed at 2030. I was almost human by 0730 Monday but still sat on my duff the entire day. Sorry to here about all the problems Pawnshop. I'm seriously considering getting rid of my own as I don't think I can physically handle this any more.

Joe, sorry your thread got hijacked. It was great seeing you again. Hopefully it'll become more than a once a year occurance. Guess it's my turn to hit OK.

I topped off the 1028 in Liberty Hill on the way up, and bought the 109 fuel in Cedar Park two weeks ago before I took it to Mabry for Muster Day. Two different stations and MANY miles driven before trouble showed up. I agree with your train of thought and will be treating this as a water in the fuel issue till I find info to the contrary.

Warthog, I haven't forgotten the photos, just have not had time to edit them yet, maybe tonight!

Thanks for the photos.

Is the one of the Huey landing where he put the tail skid down before the main skids?

That Huey driver got replaced for day 2. Hearsay only, but I gather there was some "official displeasure" with the flying for day 1.

Unfortunately I didn't have the camera out when the Hind almost settled into the ground on day 2, I'm so very glad that there was no aftermath to take pictures of. Bet it took him longer to get his heart rate back down than it did me, and that took several minutes!

Attached are a few pics of the trip home.

Cheers

1- Pawnshop leaving the Temple airport
2- My girlfriend driving Pawnshop's M1028, with my son in the M1009 behind her
3- The M1028 gets a ride home from Salado
4- Pawnshop's M109 with "alternate power source" back on the farm.

Very little of it was bad!

The Hind was very cool to see flying, and that one settling issue was all I saw go wrong with his display. I don't imagine most folk noticed, and he nosed into the wind to get some transitional lift and staggered out of it (good time to have 20+mph wind blowing!), so all is well.

Not too many folks on here can claim to have banged away at a Hind! That looked cool. [thumbzup] Those blanks are LOUD!

Cheers

The rims looked familliar. Next time you see him, tell him the gimp said hey. I haven't talked to him in a while.

That is his truck. He replaced the engine a few weeks ago after it has sat for a year or more. He pulled the winch to put on his bobbed M35. That gun ring was tan Friday afternoon. Him and his boys went to Lowes on the way to the air show, bought green paint, sprayed it in the parking lot and then drove to the show. Good thing it was dark because they both had a good bit of overspray on them.

Joe, when we unloaded the Whistler Saturday I had Colton hurry up and install the ash trays in the 3rd row of the Bomber. They add such a touch of class to that truck now. Thanks.
