Old fender style... unfortunately

I thought I had completely whooped Murphy's butt. My parts truck had a wonderful condition left fender.

So today I got about halfway done taking the bent fender off my deuce and noticed... hey, this "new" one is a good 10" wider... and the vented portion comes down to the frame rail alot sharper than the other one. Like 90* instead of 40* or so.

Crap.

Just for information purposes, the fender I'm replacing is a bent left fender on a 1971 M35A2.

The parts truck the replacement fender came off of was a 1954 or 53 REO M35-a nothing that had been re-engined at some point to become an M35A2.

Really stinks too, because this older style fender is in good shape. No major rust, no dents or dings. I'll put it up in the classifieds but I have my doubts about anyone wanting to pay shipping on one fender...

Alot of multifuels still have gasser fenders.

Its a gasser fender, and once installed with the side cover on , should be the same size as the multi fender, just a liitle more cramped in the engine compartment

I had an old converted gasser that had the old style fenders. The fender will work on a multifuel. It does make it a little more cramped in the engine compartment and if you decide to replace the right fender also (so they will match) you will have to cut it for the exhaust.

Without searching forever for a better picture, look at pictures 2 and 3. Notice how the drivers side goes almost to the steering colum then drops straight down. The passenger side one can also do that or have the inward bulge towards the front as this M48 has. If I was home I could get you really good pice from a NOS set of gasser fenders.

I've got a right side fender too, already cut for the stack... off the same parts truck. Unfortunately, Private Schumckatella didn't do such a hot job of it.

Maybe my first choice will be to see if an auto body place can bend the original fender back.

I made a brief attempt at fixing it myself by bracing a bottle jack against the tire and trying to push the bend/crumple back. Didn't work too well. I think the metal is too thick to fix it that way.

The deuce gasser fender will also hold the hot water cab heater nicely without having to buy the heater installation plate set from me. JT

The hole would have to be very bad to even be able to see it. Remember there is a plate that goes around the exhaust pipe (over the hole). I personally prefer gasser fenders and buy them whenever I can get an extra set.
