Get some boards under the front tires of the sunk one if you can. Get the pull truck on better ground and extend the winch cable with heavy chain to make up the difference if its too far out. If the ctis works put it in sand mode you will get better traction

Ferro had his M818 of death stuck like that at the GA Rally a few years back. Bumper was on the ground and the cabbage was all built up around it. We were (I supervised) able to free it with one deuce and no winch. Lots of witnesses were looking on in disbelief.

This is factually inaccurate. Everyone who knows me, knows I travel with a cooler everywhere. I never stand when there is a cooler to sit on. I was seated while directing the extraction.

Like most equipment a winch is only as good as the operator , If you don't know proper winching technics , serious injury can occur .

what ever you do I would pull it out backwards that would make it easier to get unstuck !! If you drove it into the mud ,pulling it out backwards will be easier because you will not have to pull the heavier drive axles into the ruts . That way you will only have the drag from the front axle making it far easier to pull the heavier rears out first then the front axle. Good Luck

We were told by numerous people that we would not be able to extract said M818 without a winch. We prevailed, and made astounded believers out of them.

No yelling was involved. The most difficult part of the extraction was getting everyone else to quit yelling useless suggestions. Once we were able to direct the 16 year old deuce driver to only listen to certain individuals, it went very smoothly. Too bad no video of this is known to exist. I doubt Neil Hendrix will ever forget that ride.
