Some MEMBERS' RIDES are in "SHOWROOM Condition", some are "On Their Last Legs" and everything in between.....

I have seen no compilation of pics featuring the "BATTLE DAMAGE" that might scar the "other than museum-piece" MV's in the SteelSoldiers' Motorpool.

Feel free to post pics and document any HISTORY relating to the WAR WOUNDS that have wrinkled the sheetmetal, cracked a casting, shattered some glass or any other imperfection that might be of interest to the Troops.

NOTE 1:
"Battle Damage" may have been inflicted:
1. During actual Military Service:
2. By GL (or other) Forklift MisOperators, etc.;
3. By YOU or otherwise during "civilian service"; OR
4. By Natural Disaster or Calamity.

NOTE 2:
For those who own multiple MV's: Sorry this POLL allows only one entry per Member.... So give us your "BEST SHOT" :!:

(for the Record.... I'll be posting my own pics SOON.)

And PLEASE remember......

My dropside actually has a bullet hole in the passenger side headlight bucket.

I almost ripped my passenger side fender off doing a hillclimb at the last PNW rally. It didnt look to bad until I got home and it sheared a few of the bolts. I dont have any pictures of the fender, but I do have a video of how it happened.

There was a root sticking out on the right side, and I caught it when I was backing down.

Here are the promised pics of The ARK's Battle Damage......

We acquired her from the Eldorado, TX Volunteer Fire Department (actually owned by Schiecher County, TX) and they had gotten her directly from DRMO as a FRESH rebuild from Toole Army Depot. (Thanks CARNAC)

Hence, all of her "BATTLE DAMAGE" is actually the result of 19 years of FIREFIGHTING DUTY in the multi-county area around Eldorado, TX. (They put only 10k miles on her covering up to a 100 mile radius for occasional MAJOR brushfires :!:.)

The front differential housing (Pumpkin) is NOT in any of these pics but it has obviously experienced "MINIMAL" or "NON-EXISTANT" Ground Clearance as evidneced by lots of scuff marks, and scratches, but no mechanical deformation.

The Right Side (Fender, Running Board, and Fuel Tank) damage is typical of M35's taken off-road. These "War Wounds" will not be actively repaired at this time - Might just let them "heal themselves".

The Tool Box floor is horribly "erupted" (again a typical off-road "dent") and WILL be repaired simply for functionality. The Left Running Board will remain scarred for a whlie also.

The left side of the Cowling was damaged by Tree-Limb-Contact that RIPPED off the original Mirror. After that, the VFD mount FORD swing arm or "break-away" type mirrors on the doors (note the 4 holes that will be plugged). She now carries the west-coast mirrors that came off of the VFD's replacement M35A3 - They put FORD swing mirrors on that Brush Truck too.

Other than those "wounds" our Deuce is in pretty good shape. The entire bed is in GREAT shape, having come off of the VFD's replacment "A3". It even has the fibrglass troop seats :-D

QUESTIONS>>>
1. Has anyone had any success straightening out the Tool Box by using a Bottle Jack inside without having to disassemble the sheetmetal???
2. Any alternate "shortcut" suggestions???

Mine has battle damage in a good number of areas... I am fixing some and leaving the rest.

Mirror supports are all bent up and rigged, I am fixing those.

Left fender is dented in and the signal lamp housing is smashed, I am fixing that (to the best of my abilities, bought a new light and will be hammering the dents out mostly.)

Bumper is dented/bent, it will be staying that way as I don't have anything heavy or strong enough to unbend it!

My Studebaker Weasel has a bullet hole in the left side through the drivers area. The exterior hole was apparently patched long ago but the bullet hole where it passed through the engine compartment next to the drivers leg is still there. I had them leave it when I had it restored. When I go home in January, I will take a few pictures!

I was going to fix the rust but I'm not sure now

By deuce came from GL with a few minor dents in the sheetmetal. They are painted so they've been there for a while. I am going to leave them since they aren't causing any issues. They add charactedr and make people wonder what circumstance caused them.
