Well after my friend pick up the track 2 weeks ago we got to work on it today, drove up early this morning and we got it done just need to paint engine bay and tow it back home...:-D

I remember something about the original engine having reverse rotation from the 6.5 so you have to drive forward in reverse gear.

Thank you for the heads up but the rotation is reversed on the outside sproket that drives the tracks, i had a reversed rotation drive to put in it, because some one mention that to me before few years back {its being apart for 13 years} and since i had the drive axel out it made some sense until i put it back in and for it to drive foward the axle spins backwards and following the rotation of the input on the transmission and the selection of the 4 foward gears is correct and when you place transmission on reversed the drive axle goes foward and tracks move backwards ....

got to do some more work ok the SDK

Its being a while since i got to work on the track, put some time over the weekend on the fuel system and the exhaust will get some parts during the week and go at it again soon

Awesome to hear about the cooling plans and other progress. But if you (or anyone else) would pardon my ignorance on the topic, but any idea why they made it so the exhaust pipe crosses over and the exit (muffler?) is exposed at such a relatively low and open area? I am far from knowledgeable on half-tracks, but seems like an odd design as far as ground clearance and flow efficiency is concerned.

Originally German SDK251D had a OHC MAYBAC 6 cylender engine which exhaust exit out that side, then after the war the CHEZS put a V8 Diesel TRATA engine which had exhaust one on each side and the fenders where higher, we just change the sheet metal to match the original look of the SDK251D and the reason for the cross over pipe so the exhaust exits out the driver side like the original German SDK251D with this newer style Diesel engine hope this helps....

Thank you, was curious why the odd design but now it makes sense, I know some 810's are known as SDK251 "clones" but never knew the technical differences between them. Definitely a subtle yet innovative solution, got to admire keeping something historically accurate.

thank you for the reply , the earlier models where nothing but 251D models repower with the trata engine originaly they where build there in the CHEZC republick under german occupation that being the D model , but in the early 50's they redid some of the structure that where my comes in which was a original radio truck everything was very close to the german counter part except for the main track sprokect as the front wheel as the tracks and some interior parts and front skin plate and the rear doors , now the german D model was bolted together in two pieces where this one is all welded together is a fun vehicle and should run good i pretty munch have taking everything apart and put together in the last few years except front outer drive sprockets, including the drive axle which is like a SWISS watch. not sure if i will ever do that again used to have pictures but that was over15 years ago before the digital revolution :driver:
