Rapco paint and infrared.

This is interesting. The infrared cameras on my security system. Does not pick up the light very well off the rapco brand paint. You can see the original CARC glows! The areas I touched up with rapco, looks dark.( around the door bottom and half the storage box) At first I thought it was the red oxide paint showing through, but I did not use it on the storage box.

That's something that would be pretty cool to research further.
How long after 'shutting down the engine' did you notice it?

It's not a thermal sensing camera.( I wish)
Just visible light (infrared spectrum)
