I am looking for a suggestion for what 24v-12v converter should be used on an m35. I am looking to power a spotlight in the front and a flood light in the rear.

Thanks

Look at ebay item 140105777645.
This is the model I got - although it was from a different seller. The option description is wrong. According to the box it came in, the converter is rated 15 amp continuous and 18 amp intermittent.

How many amps will your lights need?

Tom, Have you looked at Solar Converters? http://www.solarconverters.com/product_frame.html This unit is very popular with the Pinzgauer crowd. It will allow much more flexibility than a small converter. It will allow much more current flow than any of the converters that I have found. http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewtopic.php?t=2216&highlight=solar+converter It is what I will be installing in my Pinz along with a deep cycle 12 volt battery. This set up will keep the 12 volt battery charged without a 12 volt alt.

For intermittent use just hook em to one battery with a fuse.. Most lamps in spots and floods can be replaced with 24 volt units, also... see the Bulbman...

A simple, precise, but somewhat costly solution is to use a Vanner "volt-master" 50 amp battery equalizer. It will balance the 12V load, drawing some from the lower battery and some from the upper battery, depending on battery voltage. You will want to add also a DPST contactor to only connect the equalizer when the truck power is "on", and/or manually. The schematic is too big to be allowed here, so see: http://www.bunkerofdoom.com/mil/m35/vic4/index.html

Tom if you look through my lighting section you will find 2 par 36 bulbs which are made for the 4 1/2" housings. One is a ACL spot light and the other a flood / head light both in 24V. Both will fit into the mil blackout housings with a insualtor (weather stripping) for a "correct look" or if you need housings I can get the ag grade rubber housings for around 14$.
