Repurpose removed air dryer?

was just reading a thread about PRE-airing up trucks ... where it was mentioned to do this ONLY with dry air from your home compressor. Am aware that when vehicle painting you want dry air too, same for tools etc.....

could one repurpose their old style truck air dryer they removed/replaced for this? Anyone done this or similar?

Yes you can depending what your overall flow requirements are. This unit obviously has a flow range/limit, but I have no idea what that limit is. You will also need to add in something (timer and solenoid valve or solenoid valve controlled by pressure switch) to regularly purge/backflush the moisture that coalesces and drops to the bottom. If you don't it will eventually fill with water and stop removing moisture from the air.
