here's one for some head scratching. My 5 ton M54 multifuel drips oil only when standing and not running. The oil drips out from between the sump /gasket/and engine base from one single spot only from between number 4 and 5 sump bolt from the rear passengers side (starter and oil filter side and is allmost therefore imediatly under and between the the two cans.) there is no leak from the filters and run down the engine block. But a small drop pops out from between the sump and base on a regulay frequency (about one drop every 20 seconds!!) and this with nothing running..we tightend the sump bolts..no result still small drop every 20 seconds. How in heck is this possible? the oil level is not at that hieght. before i pull off the sump anyone any ideas? (all and any gasket goo etc does not stop the dreaded oil drop pop out and down.)

G'day everyone,....

I'd say there might be a very slight distortion in the block surface just where the leak is.
When running there might be just enough suction to hold the leak despite any 'Blowby' from around the pistons, the engine ventilation system must be clean so as to not let the system pressurise to much.

Just my thoughts.

Aussie.
