Hello all,
I am going through the front axle on my scout car, and I would like to rebuild most of it while I have it apart. My question is, What are the seals for the axle, and where is their location. Before I tore down the front axle, it looked like I had some heavy grease or possible oil leaking from behind the felt seal on the steering knuckle. I'm interested in replacing the axle seals just to be safe. Also, if anyone could point me in the right direction for getting the seals and gaskets, I would appreciate it,

Thanks,
Mitch

My advice to you is to carefully remove the old seals, take the seal along with the ID and OD measurement of where the seal goes, and go to your local bearing supply house. NOS seals are too old, and technology has come a long way from rawhide.
