Seat Foam Thickness

I got a new set of canvas seat covers from Jatonka for my M185A3. Anybody that has replaced theirs, what thickness and type of foam did you use? My original stuff is trashed so it's no help. I'm thinking of some dense automotive seat foam in a thickness of 3". I figure it'll get compressed no matter how stout it is so I want to have a little cushion on my skinny white backside once it gets "broken in".

Thanks...

I went to the sewing section of a local store and bought 3" green foam for my deuce passenger/driver seat bottoms and 2" for pass side back rest.
