Seat question

I'm gonna start this by saying I'm fine with the original seat, though there was too much cushion in the back. So, I have no intention of changing it out.

I recently did reupholster the driver's side seat, the canvas was ripped and decided to take the pieces to a pro. I had removed the frame, then the pieces off the frame leaving the base of the seat still in the truck. When I was putting it back together I noticed that the one side of the seat frame (nearest the window) is about half an inch shorter than the other on the bottom of the frame. Is this normal or a manufacturing defect? I'm really only asking out of curiosity.

My seat cushion brackets are also both the same, which probably means someone took it apart in the past (maybe way in the past) with others and mixed up the parts.

My seat is identical to the one on TM 9-2320-361-20 page 11-51, for reference.
