With all my starter problems I have been wondering exactly what is happening INSIDE of the starter solenoid that causes it to fail. I have seen a few pictures of solenoid interiors; but have not yet seen the inside of one of my own to verify the scale and location of the damage. I assume it is similar to the damage shown in this threads picture: SOLENOID WELDED CONTACTS.
Are there any serviceable solenoids for either the 27MT( direct Drive) OR 28MT (Gear Reducs) starters. On my other Chevy 350, the solenoids can be rebuilt, but I have not seen any solenoids yet that were not sealed for our trucks
