It wouldn't start and we figured out that the fuel pump was not working so we swapped that with another off the other duece and it fired right up. Then proceeded to idle up pretty high, not full throtttle but higher than idle so we shut her down and she won't start up.... It's an 1986 M35A2

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Well, I'd try soaking a rag with gasoline and hold it in the air intake. If it runs off of that, you know its fuel starvation. So it has sat for some time? Can you turn on the power switch and get fuel out of the bleeder on the secondary/final filters? If so, could be IP issues.

If the filters are plugged (like Gimp suggested) and you ran it out of fuel make sure to rebleed the system prior to starting. It will save your batteries and your starter.

yeah, the stop cable is in all the way, I changed all the filters today. cleaned out the turbo, it had some rust built up on the exhaust side. It's been sitting for a year. It won't start on it's own unless i spray a little starting fluid in the intake, bu then dies right away. If I continue to spray it in it wants to rev up high....

Filter's changed, you've verified the fuel shutoff cable is pushed in at the injector pump, good lift pump. Have you bled the fuel system? First make sure key on, engine off, that you have fuel coming out of the secondary fuel filters by loosening the bolt at the top of the housing. Once you have fuel without bubbles coming out of there, it should start pretty easy. Worst case, start cracking open the 6 injector lines while cranking. When you see fuel, tighten the line back down. Should not have to crack more than 2. If it still doesn't crank, there's likely something wrong with the injection pump which might explain why the truck is free if you can get it moved. Keep us posted.

Well, I did have a problem with my fuel shutoff line once. The cable released the plunger so it went back in the housing, but the linkage got bound up. I had to unscrew the 2 flat head screws and manually work the linkage under that cover. Once I did that, I put it back together and things worked just fine. If you take that cover off, things should be easy to move, it should take no effort to move the parts.
