starter woes update and question

First,THANK YOU for your replies,it was a inline fuse(blue wire off of junction box on firewall)we found it and yes it was melted,we cut that part out and soldered a regular in line fuse holder and using 20 amp fuses,still got some lose wires under dash that need tucked in but its starting:D..is a 20 amp regular fuse enough for this fix? Ive had to replace the fuse twice ...once because I tried to get mount back under dash..had to hit a wire..sparks and fuse was blown,just covered the dog head mod with liquid tape then going to try to install the relay and mounting plate hoping this is done...THANKS for your help guys!

Simple answer is no. It should be fusible link wire. Hard answer is you need to see what the maximum amperage draw is on the circuit and calculate the size of a MAXI-fuse needed.
