Hello fellas,

I've One big doubt about my starter.

Recently I've refurbished It and Yesterday was the day of loading It on engine.
I' ve also read a lot in this forum and well understand the necessity of the bracket.
But my starter do not have the predisponition, (attached you findsome pictures). As you can see, the bolt ends and i can't do nothing.
This is the starter I found in and when I put It down there was only the two big bolts on front.

What do you suggest to me to do?

I Need to find some engineering way out ? Weld another bolt on it?

p.s. on manual there is written the necessity of shims , but here in my starter it is printed " NO SHIMS" (as before when I putted it down I do not found any shims on it..). It Is correct?

Thanks in advance

It looks like the bolt you're pointing at is incorrect. It needs to have a stud sticking out of the end to bolt the bracket to. It could be that someone swapped it out not knowing it has to be there. All diesel starters have it stock, even aftermarket ones. I'm not sure where you're at but some rebuilders may have one laying around. FYI a 12 volt civi starter has the same bolt so if you find one of those it'll fit too. Worse case scenario buy a cheap starter core etc and snag the bolt out of it...but you have to have that bracket bolted in to start the truck.

Thanks fellas,

Find 1/4 " threaded Rod here It Is quite difficult. I'm thinking about welding on top of the Bolt a stud.

What about the shims? Do any of you have same issues of mine?
I guess it could be a pain finding standard threaded rod over there. I can get it at any farm store or parts store here in us...I'm not sure how you'll get around that since you need that bolt to hold the starter on. I see you're thinking about welding a bolt to the end...if you can weld really good I guess it'll work! The planet rides on that bracket though...if that weld breaks so does the starter bolts. No shims at all under the starter at all period stop print.
