Pretty simple, took the M923A2 mud bogging in a pit that wasn't designed right. Put chains on all 6 wheels, strapped in and hope for the best was all one could do. I hit it so hard I ripped the bottom out of the pit on the second run, stuck it so good on the second run a M936A2 that was there retrieving vehicles and pulled me out the first time couldn't yank it out. They had to call in a 50T wrecker to pull it.
Ended up winning the competition "imagine that".

I respect the full send. Needed more initial velocity and that concrete block not in the bed and you may have made it out. looks like your rear just sank.

They would only let me back up so far or I would have. Pickup trucks full blown crate motor ones couldn't even get as far as I did. Too deep, too steep of a drop, so many wrong variables, but it was fun. More of was surfing mud in front is why the rear sank as it did.

This to me says it is the MERDC camo one behind the OD one, which means we're voting on a vehicle that we haven't really seen yet?
The first voting pictures are presented here without that explanation and give the impression that the OD one is the subject.

This is MERDC camo, which means Mobility Equipment Research and Design Command that was designed in the 70's, anything before that was just olive drab. Which means to have a MERDC camo it has the camo paint scheme of 1970's or newer.

Sorry for being confusing about my M151a1, guys. I used this picture, although it poorly showcases my jeep, because of it being in front of the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox, KY. To me, the location is the most interesting thing.

Here's a better picture, in a completely different setting. I bought this M151a1 in 2004. It was wearing the desert MERDC at the time I acquired it, which is not very common in KY. Bumper unit ID at the time was still barely visible, and marked ARNG. I have every reason to believe it received this desert paint job while still in service.


In the 20 years I've had it, I've hauled kids around the neighborhood, dog around town, and both of my boys learned to drive a manual in it. (My youngest was about 9 or 10.) I've driven it at 3 gun matches, to military vehicle shows, and my wife and I use to take it to the drive-thru for ice-cream before we had kids.

Unlike most rigs this one has been there through thick and thin, over the ridge through the mud and hauling home whatever I ask of it. Not prettiest, but it's getting work done to it and does what I need with room to grow.

And I now upgraded the tires, that was a fight, even replaced all the o-rings on the rims and valve stems. Took the leaky CTIS system off, not seeing much benefit for when I need to inflate/deflate. Next is time for a hitch, then replace mirrors, put new heater in and rebuild the cab.

Just got my heater in for my 5 ton, yeah all those pictures in the winter time up above I did without a heater and the cab has air flow as if the window is down.
Anywho as I talk to myself here, went to open the box up and I’m afraid to touch it now, I feel bad for even opening it up.

Felt the same about my MTVR Ac Kits. Everything was so nice and packaged but boy it was way too hot to not install it.

I keep saying I will put AC in one day, but when temperatures hit 95°F-110°F I really have no reason to have the rig out. Even if I had to more than likely going to be outside anyways once I get where I am going. I'm only 44 years old so heat doesn't bother me much yet, grew up in SE Texas, 5 tours in the Middle East so I don't know yet.

Some videos too, first one is of I went to rescue someone and I felt the rig slide I stopped it, went back and got my excavator started pulling it back and the tow strap snapped sending the 5 ton off the side of the ridge. I had to recover it myself too since the person I rescued didn't offer to help.
