steering shaft pinch bolt size ?

I consulted TM9-2320-289-34P , steering section figures 127 and 128.
I searched with strings like "CUCV steering box pinch bolt" and "CUCV steering shaft pinch bolt".
I tried 1/2 ", 7/16", 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, its none of those sizes.
So what is it ??

Ah, its 7/16 inch, but ya havta use a 12 point socket.....sheesh. Now I need to figure out what to do with these leftover kingpin washers...how many did I put in there?

Just talkin' to myself some more.....so THATS what those big washers are for : the ol' Dana 60 death wobble trick....I guess I better put these back in then......

just replace the bushings and springs, since you have it all apart. better than shoving washers in to compensate for a weakened spring

if your tires are oversize, you may need the washer anyway. Most new springs don't seem to hold as well as the old ones. Chinese metal. I have a set of ORD rubber inserts but have not tried them yet. waiting for next time I have a reason to take it apart.
The washer will compensate for the crappy springs they sell now. Springs however are designed for stock tire size. The larger and heavier the tire, the more spring or washers you will need.
