Would anyone be able to cross NSN 5310-00-995-1833?
It is the steering wheel nut on the m35a2.
The part is called for in the TMs but the only desc. is hexagonal nut.
But not the size it looks like a fine thread 7/8-14.
I will try one after I pick it up from True Value.
I found out last night that mine was something larger that was welded into place.

Thanx for any help.

Tony

Thanx for the offer little bob,
I found a 7/8 -14 fine thread castle nut with nylon insert at true value and it threaded onto the shaft just fine.
I will try it for a while and check to see if it comes loose. The locking nylon is a nice touch.
Now I just have to find the right smaller steering wheel to fit. THe 5 ton I tried didn't.
Any idea where to find the NSN # on a 5 ton steering wheel?
I wan't able to find a number on the one O have to cross with the TMs.

If I remember correctly, I checked mine with a thread gage and it was like a 7/8 by 20 or 24??? I really believe 14 is way wrong. The center shafts are very easy to cross thread and are soft so installing the nut you may not know it's cross-threaded. Not 100% but would be very curious to have someone check a nut with a gage. I am thinking it's a -20.
