Tailgate will not open

Hi All. I have another issue i can't get solved. My tailgate will not open. It used to just fine, but after I replace the mechanism for the window to go up-and-down, it got harder and harder and now will not open. Luckily, I still have the metal plate off of the inside over the back of the tailgate.But I don't know what to do to try and get it to open to try and make any adjustments. Anyone have any thoughts on how to open a stuck tailgate?

It's not that hard to get it to pop open from the inside. I just pull each latch release arm and push each side until it opens. Sounds like you need to adjust the handle throw on the latch or the bolts are loose. Could be rusty too.

Well after more trying I put a big pry bar on the left hand side and it opened very easy. I know the right side is out of alignment but not sure how to get it aligned
