Hi...
Have been toying about with the deuce and noticed that there does not seem to be much oil to be seen when removing the oil filler cap when running , i have only checked when it has been cold and not after a run , question is how quickly would you expect to see oil coming out from around the rockers and how much , it looks nice and clean in there since i have changed the oil so something must be doing its job , i am hoping that you dont see much oil until the viscosity drops and allows it to come out around the edges of the rockers ?

thanks

It can take the deuce a long time in automotive terms to build up enough oil pressure to lubricate the top end. Many have built external oil pumps and resevoirs just for the purpose to build up oil pressure before starting the engine. Some of the devices made by member have used electric motors or even air pressure to do this.

Try leaving that cap off on accident and driving for a few hours. You will see how much oil there is in there!

Thanks for the info interesting stuff, the oil pressure on mine has always been very good , gets up to 60 PSI in les than 10 seconds on a cold start , I think I will take it for a short drive when it stops raining over here and i can get it out of the field and see how it looks then, as mentioned it was quite dirty up the top end when i changed the head gaskets and serviced it , since then (6-7 HOURS OF USE ) the top end has cleaned up nicely so i am hoping the oil has been getting up there and doing its job .

Regards
bob
