torque rod ends

does anyone know if you can buy the torque rod bushings at napa or any parts stores, or do you have to buy them from one of the military surplus stores, I had one come off when the 817 was loaded and the leaf spring came off the top of the front left drive axle. Also how about a part number.

I have been buying some torque rod ends off of E bay 2 for $115 I'm using them on a trailer look under [ 5 ton torque rod ]

Let us know how big of a press it takes to press them in I have spent enough on having a shop press the old ones out and put the new ones in I could have a really big press of my own . I think the bushing to push them out needs to be close to 4 1/16 in diameter . kenny

Changing out torque rods on m52a2 bought these torque rods from SS M1075 last year . I spent a few days putting them in also replaced the rubber brake lines and a pinion seal . it really helps to mark the cotter key holes . kenny

I'm in the same boat. According to the TM you can reuse the torque rods but you should check carefully for cracks, etc.

Sam Winer was the cheapest I found for replacement bushings. But, for the price of the bushing, shipping, and if you end up having to pay someone to press them in, you're better off (imo) to buy new from M1075 which is what I did. He's a great guy to deal with and ships fast. His price isn't much more than buying a bushing plus pressing labor and then if your old rod is still good you can eventually get some bushings and have a spare on hand. At least, that's the route I took. To each his own. ;-)

the only shop near me charged me $60 a rod to take the old out and put the new ones in when I was working on my m269 low boy and the m131a5c tanker the trailer torque rod are a little shorter . in the picture is both top torque rods they have a wave to them and a little twist to them .

that was Genes frame and alignment they had at least a 100 or 150 ton press . I asked if a 20 ton press would work and I didn't get a answer just a look . when they press them in they put antisieze on them . I spent more then enough to buy a nice press . and still don't know how big of a press it really takes ?

I believe that the -34 gives the press pressure needed, eather in the 260 or the 211 TM, I have seen it along with the one way press note, just forgot where I saw it, at my age, that is eaey to do.

I think my torque rods are going Bad. I have read how to test them. Do I need to take the springs off to get the top rods off? Or can I just take them all off one by one?
