Just wondering what size or what can be used to remove the nut on the torque rod. Also do they have the reverse thread like the wheel lugs? I have a bushing i noticed was torn during a pre trip inspection on one of the driverside lower rear.

I have used a box end open end wrench cut in half because I needed to use a cheater pipe on it a socket will come in handy to . The threads are all the same right on left off the nut size is 2 1/4 on older trailers some are 2 3/8 .

I used a box wrench on the castle nut. Popped right off at the salvage yard, but mine were too tough to get off and had to take it to a heavy truck place. The biggest bitch for me and others was the cotter pin. Do not use the truck with a dog bone acting up. Totally unsafe. Change it out. My axle twisted when mine gave way. No damage, but there could of been if it gave way at 55mph.

Go ahead and spray those cotter pins down really good with your favorite penetrating oil now so they can be soaking. Seriously, it was the hardest part of the job on the lower rods. I used a 2-1/4" knock wrench to remove the nuts.

I have torque rod nuts for sale if you need some. I don't have them listed but send me a PM if you end up needing some.

The thread below will be a good read before you go at it.
