Trailer wiring socket/plug

The trailer wiring socket on my M931 was kind of corroded. I managed to get the pig-tail unplugged without destroying it, but just barely.

Got it cleaned up but would like to put some type of grease on it so it won't stick again. I was afraid if I used common gun grease that it might attack the rubber plug & wiring insulation.
What would be safe to use? I have some synthetic grease but don't know if that would be safe either.

[h=3]Dielectric grease or silicone grease you can get a tube at just about any auto parts store for around $5.[/h]
