Turbo engine removal tool for pros or something better?

After removing a couple turbo engines with a cherry picker, I am looking to make the process easier/ safer? Removal typically is interesting since it maxed out the length of my picker and I get a little swing when it uncouples. Does the jig below make the process better or is there something else? The J-3313 9jig is expensive but Im willing to buy it for my garage. Also is it balanced without removing the transmission

Wait, you didn’t just press the “Easy Button?”

rofl

If you have a cherry picker, odds are you have the skills where you can weld that easy.

That fixture looks kinda silly, why does it have 3 lifting eyes? Funny how the jarheads repurposed a shelter lifting sling (4 leg) to use with this funny fixture.

One of these setups will change your life, that's a Dayton 3ton chain fall and 3 16ft 4X6s holding 1100lbs of full dressed mercruiser 5.7. After pulling 3 engines with this setup, I'll never go back to cherry picking again.

That tool would work and work well. The three lifting eyes would do a good job of keeping it balanced during the lift.

As for me I would go cheap.....

(And I do not like HF)
The problem with those is first there is very little room on top of the engine to even mount one and second the balance point is actually on top of the cowl directly in front of the windshield, I only use the rear lifting eye.
I used to have a large version of this to pull the engines out of my Chris Craft, the engines were under the hard top so it looked like a large C.

The Hmmwv jig is $100 bucks delivered on an auction site and looks so much easier to clear the cowl. I going to buy it unless someone posts anything better.

SW hit it on the head!

Chains on an engine is as old as Model T, and adding a crank balancer makes it even sexier.

I also say weld yer own and pay $50 re.: the tool displayed. 1/4 inch thick square tube outa do you right.

The Kent Moore hoist, like shown is the perfect lifting hoist for the engine. I used mine a few times with no issues. As stated above the three lifting points are for balancing depending on if your taking a bare engine out or whole power train. Well worth the $100 give or take. Here’s a pic using mine last year
