Unwanted Total Blackout

All the lights on the Deuce went out when I stopped at the end of my driveway tonight. I tried the light switches in the dark but nothing worked. When I finally climbed out, all the lights came back on again. It was just like someone was playing a late Halloween trick on me. The truck had stopped when the lights went out and it hadn't moved when they came back on again. This doesn't sound like a loose wire to me.

This happened once before about 40 trips ago. I lost all lights for no apparent reason when I made a right turn. I kept on driving and about 100 feet later all the lights came on again.

I'll have to check the wires again to see if some have come loose. Have any of you had this problem ?

This happens to me when I click on the highbeams, The light switch has a thermal fuse and In my case its a weak thermal fuse that gets overloaded with the extra amps from the high beams, after about 20 seconds the lights come back on for a few minutes then go out again but everything works fine if I don't use high beams,, the cure of course is a new light switch in the meantime I don't run down the road anymore with the H beams on ( kinda freaky when your going down a dark rural road and all the lights go out )

Guys, please use the search feature to try and find topics which already exist.

Once you have found them, please add to them versus creating new threads. This will help all of us when troubleshooting problems in the future. 2 or 3 5-page threads are much better than 10 threads with 3 or 4 answers.
