Using the Recent Topic List

I like to look over the recently discussed topics on the mainpage. After clicking on a topic and reading it, I hit the back button to return to the mainpage and look for another topic. Now when I return, the page is not refreshed like it used to be and I get day old topics. Has something changed? How does everyone else use the site?

Wow! I noticed that last night and today. It did it at home and work, so I know it isn't my junk. It isn't doing it now, must be fixed. I browse the same way you do, from the main page.

There is something with the 'cookies' that I have never been able to figure out. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesnt.

It must depend on who bakes them, and what flavor they are :-D

ACE, that was the whole point of this thread (it is in the website help section).....

Unfortunatly, the great guru that I am, like I said above, I have no clue what causes this. I am researching it, but I cant promise anything at all......

Any updates on this Mike? When I go back to the main page, I still get the topics from 03/05/07.

Does that mean CTRL-F5? I tried CTRL-F5 and still get the stagnant data when I return. I started experiencing this on both home and office computers about a week ago. Could it be something related to a virus protection program? I've got Norton at work and McAfee at home. Is anyone else experiencing this over the last week or is it just me?

When you use the back button it should always go back to the Page you left, not to a refresh (new) page. In fact most sites (auctions) I go to will tell you need to refresh the page to see the newest page and latest bid.
It's been that way on every computer I've used. Wayne

RE: Recent topic

I understand that. I am only trying to go back one page and pick a new topic to review. When I go back, I get the Recently Discussed Topics from 3/5 or 3/6 not today. Something seems "Stuck" on that day. Any ideas?

RE: Recent topic

Thanks guru, that worked! Now hopefully it will not get stuck on today. I'll let you know if it happens again. Thanks Mike.

refresh

I don't understand this, but a quick search on the internet gave me this maybe it will help the guru. Wayne

You can do this with meta tags. It won't actually refresh on every visit, but it will tell the clients computer not to store information about the page and instead completely re-download it on each view. You can use the following meta tags (don't know how many are necessary, but it wouldn't hurt to use all of them):
CODE
<meta> <tells>
<meta> <says>
<meta> <says>
