Vampire desease for HMMWV

its where the cooling loop in the xcase breaks and you pump all your trans fluid into the case. ie case becomes a vampire

I've dealt with two that have had that problem. If you look it up on Google there's a site with some pics of exactly what happens to the cooling loop, but basically it cracks inside the transfer case at the mount point and then, as has been said, nicely drains your transmission. For most users you can just bypass the cooling loop in the transfer case with a length of decent hose, unless you're a hard charging monster mudder or plan on taking part in the Dakar rally or something :-D
