Well as some of you know I went and picked up my new to me M1028 hence forth to be known as WARWAG. This morning was -8 below and she had a bit of a time starting but start she did. I drove her around and noticed she was having a hard time shifting. Actually she wasnt shifting. Figuring it was the cold fluid I drove her for a bit and then accelerated. She shifted but at a pretty high RPM which I didnt run at before. Then she shifted again into third at a pretty high rpm as well. I took her for a spin up the road. She drives fine. mechanically she seems fine. I believe the shifting issue just may be what they all are? Not sure but the shifts were firm and instant. Feels like a shift kit to me. Is this the norm for the M1028? I also cleaned up the windshield and got the grease pen crud off. I used my wifes nail polish remover and it did pretty well with some elbow grease. Behind the seat I found a fire extinguisher and a deconaminating spray bottle. Pretty cool looking. Also a box of reflectors. Also in the cab is an original vehicle maintenance binder with another set of keys. One for the ignition and one for the anti theft steering wheel lock (read chain and lock). Unfortunately the problem is its not the one to this truck! Says 18,549 miles at turn in. Diving a bit deeper that vehicle has 118,549. Plus the Vin# is wrong. So to my other SS brothers out there headed to Nellis to pick up your rig check the Maintenance log and see if its the one for your truck (or mine). There are also two rifle mounts in the vehicle. One on each side of the seat. The body on mine is not as nice as I had thought. The roof of the cab has a BIG crease down the middle. There are also various dents and scraps not seen in the original GL photos. OH well I think I will make this into my plow truck or Off road truck. She will be road legal and registered. Overall she is a good running vehicle. Here are some pics from todays run. Oh and there are absolutely NO leaks anywhere!
