Hi folks,

Today I' ve tried to replace my old water pump with a brand new One.

But.. the new One do nof fit on water pump plate.

I've got an M1008 6.2 from 1985 and I bougth a brand new water pump from eastern surplus & equipment few months ago.

Has anything like this ever happened to any of you? How would you solve this problem?

Tnks in Advance

Please note: i live in Italy so shipping cost to usa , taxes and time are not very affordable

Show the back of the pump...impeller side. You could have gotten a reverse serpentine belt pump. Hmmv used a serpentine belt not v belts and the pump was different. The catalog might say it fits but it won't. I've used a flow cooler water pumps on mine.

Did you order Eastern Surplus part number SP-2839 for 6.2 engine? If you did and they sent you the wrong part they need to make it right. If you ordered the wrong part, like HM182, it's on you.

Thanks folks.

Today I' ve learned another thing about this vehicle and buying stuff on internet .

Let's see if these shop people are kind enough to do the return. I understood then that the water pump could work only that it would be inefficient, but it would work
i understand , correct?

As anyone of you ever changed the waterplate ? I mean take a piece of metal (same spessor) and rebuilt It but with correct holes and so on?

Suond good idea or bad for your?

Thanks M1008it

It's to my understanding that a reverse flow pump can be mounted on the NA 6.2. Otherwise, I don't know how people have managed to convert them to serpentine drive belts. For all the bits and pieces you'd need to do that swap, you'd be best served having a complete serpentine Detroit Diesel to pick and pull, but I've only ever seen it done with 12v conversions and air conditioning.
