I just aquired some deuce parts and I found some boxes marked crank wear sleeves

the part number is5318-177-9340.

It seems to be for the rear of the crankshaft were the main seal is.

Anybody know what they are for?

I don't know for sure but I have a good idea. Sounds like they are seal wear sleeves. If something happens and the surface the seal rides on gets damage you can put a sleeve over the surface to renew the surface so the seal won't leak.

When you install a wear sleeve on any seal surface, you have to use a different seal for that application. So, before installing a rear main sleeve, you ought to be sure you can get a seal to fit it. This comes as hard learned experience on big truck and trailer axle spindles. JT out
