what boom will work

someone should know. what other boom will work on a m543? the one I bought looks like it was over used without the boom supports. it did not like that idea, although it has been repaired. it has had the bends cut out, with straight metal welded in it's place. it has also been plated, both sides, and bottom, why not top i cann't really tell you.
i would be more comfortable replacing the boom, i have found a m819 boom i can trade for, along with a few hundred $, i would like the extra reach, but don't know if the rearward overhang would cause a problem. any ideas?
