Just started looking into different brands of 15w 40 and there seems to be quite a few choices. On the one hand you have cat telling you to use their oil and on the other you have a companies like amsoil that say they can triple the amount of mileage you get between oil changes. Also wondering if synthetic is worth the extra money vs conventional oil? I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on what brand of oil has worked for them.

I saw Castrol GTX Diesel Oil at Walmart the other day. I had no idea they even made it. It has good reviews though.

I would run Delo or Rotella. Both are very good oils. What ever you choose stick with it. It is best not to mix brands as the additive package each manufacture uses may not be comparable with the other. Not only has the schooling I have shown that mixing brands isn't the best I have seen engines that have evidence.

On an higher mileage engine it use more Delo than Rotella. It's the way the additive package is.

Well... I guess the quick answer here would be that I've never had an oil not work for me regardless of brand.
good answer all brand name oils are good for me its going to be 5w40 synthetic because I rarely see temps over 70 degrees and often see temps below - 10 I have delo and vavoline products available to me and plan on using them.
