Whats the difference

I was wondering what the difference is between the Vic-1 and the Vic-3? Also what is the best system, the Vic-1, Vic-3, or something newer and better?

VIC-1 systems are quite reliable if you follow the manual when you're hooking them up, otherwise you'll turn the main switch into a very expensive fuse. I don't know much about the VIC-3 but have heard all around the collectors venues that sourcing cables and connectors is a nightmare even if you do find all the boxes needed for the system, which is quite probably why they show up on Ebay for reasonable prices fairly consistently.

The main difference is that the VIC-3 is more modern and supports noise canceling. Good luck getting a working system together, and it would be of dubious legality if you did.

Another thing... I have a vic 1 system that someone hooked up with the polarity reversed. Is there one thing that goes when this happens. If so what part or parts do I need to replace or fix?
