No, the winch. When I roll then cable end all the way to the winch drum, I cannot get the end loose to flip over to the other side.Where are these pins you are talking about? At the fairlead?
Well the instructions don’t say anything about having to pull any pins to get the cable off of the guide roller so you can roll the end around the drum to the guide on the other side. this pic seems to include all the instructions they give for this part of the process…No, the winch. When I roll then cable end all the way to the winch drum, I cannot get the end loose to flip over to the other side.

Thats what I got looking at the exploded view . You push the rod in to compress the spring to free the end of the rod furthest from the spring…For clarity, the pin you are referring to is located in the diagram below the cable guide (7). My pin is spring mounted so I can slide the pin towards the truck frame and the cable will slip past the end of the pin. My truck differs slightly from the diagram because my pin is mounted in reverse to what is shown in the diagram, The U shaped piece of metal shown on the outside of the winch in the diagram houses the spring and mine is on the frame side of the winch, not the outside. My pin sits flush as you look at it and slides towards the frame. If your pin is stuck and it is mounted like mine then you can tap it with a flat punch to free it.
Yes, that pin (80) is bent on my truck on both forward and rear ends of the winch. I think they pulled the cable back until the end hit the pins.Thats what I got looking at the exploded view . You push the rod in to compress the spring to free the end of the rod furthest from the spring…

Did you put the pin through the hoops or is it pin on pin?Yes, there is just enough room to get the cable past the pin. That is all you need to do.
I use a screw pin shackle on the end of the winch cable. I do not remember the size but it fit nicely.
how do you get the cable end thru the front rollers? Does the top or bottom plate of rollers come off so you can slip the cable down the center into place?
One of the rollers has a removable pin.how do you get the cable end thru the front rollers? Does the top or bottom plate of rollers come off so you can slip the cable down the center into place?
