Started a new job at county road and bridge. They have a couple of winch trucks, one rear winch on fifth wheel truck one rear winch flat bed with ginn poles. told to replace cables, hooks just had cables run through and a knot tied in the cable. My m211 has a double nut collar connection(don't know what correct term for it is} I found some thimbles and used cable clamps following directions on package as to number of clamps and length of turn back tail. would like some information on winching procedures but haveing a hard time finding info. was wondering aif anyone could help.

The pictures are of what is called a Osha Knot they are reusable and you can buy new inserts .I use them on my M52A2 . they replaced tying a knot in the winch line on oil field trucks in the early 1990 around this area . A knot the tail chain pulls more on one side of the cable wearing more on one strand .The Osha knot pulls more evenly on the cable . Now days you go to the place that sales the cable and they can press on a Button on the end of the cable with hydraulic press that is the way it is done now days .
