Windshield vents and roof support not compatable

I wanted to restore my LMTV to near original so bought a windshield vent for it. Logic said that the windshield will clear better with it in place.

Guess what, it won't fit. Apparently the vent has to be removed when the gun mount support post is put in. See the picture. I would rather have the roof support than the vent so won't install the vent.

How many of your trucks have the vents? or don't have? I think it's curious to have this conflict of parts. I may eventually notch the vent so it will go on around the post.

That why the trucks that have the vent installed have been cut to accept the center support

My vent was cut with a hammer. I will clean it up and reinstall someday.

I have seen some trucks with 2 piece vents separated by the support. I always thought they were just a different part I didnt realize they were just one cut in half. I would think there would be a split model for the air drop cab though.

Never installed it because the near-view is restricted by the vent. I had picked up another LMTV and it had the vent, and I didn't like it, so it came out. Want one? Note that newer (or modified) vents are see-through but those get dirty so don't help much.

Nope. And we have lots of humidity here. These trucks have a heater fan like a hurricane.
