Working on motor, motor stopped turning!

Over the last 3 or so weeks, I have been working on my motor(LDS). I took the heads off to install new head gaskets. I have been slowly putting it back together cleaning and installing new parts(IP, injectors, steering column, etc). Today I replaced a copper air line and was adjusting valves. I got the motor to spin to where the No. 1 valve was all the way open, to adjust the first set of valves. After that, you spin the motor over to adjust the last set of valves, when the #6 valve is all the way open.

On the way to #6 opening, the motor stopped turning. There is something stopping it from turning. I marked the harmonic balancer at the pointer where it stopped turning.

I turned the motor backward to see if it would spin 360* and it stopped about 1.5 inches from a full rotation.

At this point I am getting worried! I loosened the bolts holding the rocker arms to the head, so no valves are down. It still won't turn. I have the injector's keepers loose to let the compression out so I can turn the motor easier, I can wiggle the injectors, so I doubt they are hitting the piston.

What might I be missing?

I talked it over with a buddy and we think it might have something to do with the #4 piston since the TDC mark is 1.5-2 inches past the pointer.

I don't believe my bore scope will fit in the injector holes. crap

Can you hear the contact? Especially if the injectors are out you should be able to ear up to it at each cyl and hear it. If you can't have you double checked any external interference? Flywheel area or such?

I suggest he blow air into each cyl(injector hole) and listed for something to move in the cylinder(like Dave's Zippo).

remove ip gear to eliminate that since it turns at crank speed. make sure it is not some external thing. best guess is that something was in a port and fell into cylinder when valve opened. time to remove head. since it has not run you should be able to reuse the head gasket. sucks, but worse things will happen.

since you will have to remove the intake anyway (maybe) get a small amgnet on a wire, open the intake valve, your choice which one, you know it isn't 1 or 6, and fish around.

Why do you say it isn't 1 or 6? I ask because, with the rocker arms off, all the valves move a lot except the ones at 1 and 6.

#6's valves seem to move the same amount. #1's exhaust seems to move more than the intake, which would seem like maybe something fell into the combustion chamber when the intake valve opened.

What do you think?

Also, just picked up the Milwaukee bore scope. There is no way in heck it will fit in the injector hole. Anyone have a small bodied bore scope to lend out?!

How big is the hole? Milwaukee has 2 different size heads for the same scope. One is digital and one is analog. If I remember the analog is a lot smaller than the digital. Mine has both.

BTW I noticed you are suffering from gynaecomastia. I saw on TV you might be eligible for $$$ in a law suit if you took certain drugs in the past. You may want to consult an attorney. rofl

Grab all the valve stems and pull up on them. I'm wondering if the whole head of one of the valves broke off and sat down on a piston. I've seen it before on other engines.

All this talk has me shopping for a borescope. Other than the size, any issues with the Milwacky Gimp?

Here is the HF coupon for the borescope. It appears to be current.
Only $69.99 with coupon 38904696
Let me know if you need me to mail you the coupon they mailed me.
