Vise on the front bumper

I've seen a couple of deuces that had a vise mounted on the front bumper (they were winch trucks). I've always kinda thought mine should have one, since it was a maintenance truck (KYNG maintenance). Does anyone have pics of that? I don't recall exactly where it was mounted, if there was a welded-on plate or a special bracket for it.

Hmm, I did find a thread in the 5-ton forum (I searched the Deuce forum before posting this).

Joe,

I found this thread through searching "bumper vise"... then digging through one of those threads in which Clinto posted this link:

Edit: -- You beat me by a matter of seconds!

A couple of good pics of Deuces with vises mounted on them from that thread below:

Most of the mounts are just heavy plate that span the frame exts and the bumper. I have a vise mounted to a plate, which is welded to square tube, that fits in my truck(civy pickup) hitch reciever. I have often thought about putting a recierver type tube on the bed sides of the deuce to work on "stuff". I would get too much mud and grime if it were installed on the front bumper of my truck.

I dunno about that. I spent good money to get my Wilton C2 for my wrecker. Now that I have it, I can't see letting it rot on a bumper. I think I will use a smaller Yost or Reed that I have.

It's funny what memories this thread brings back; when I was bidding on my deuce at Boone NG base there was a killer one there w/w that had a vise but they pulled it from the auction cause they didn't have pics up yet. It ended up getting moved to Redstone and I bid on it again there but I think it ended up going for well over $4,000. I'd love to hear from whoever ended up getting it. This would have been in spring / summer 2010.

Gimpy would need 2 of them, one on each side.

Mine is a Winton made for outdoor service sealed by rubber caps and Orings . 4" vice , looks the same as the second picture in DAVEY 8943's post with the exception of the one in the picture has the rear thread water plug missing. 2cents

What regularly amazes me on this site are the things I don't even know I don't know. Vices are different sizes and, presumably, crappy if from China. That was the extent of my knowledge. Now I know that there are specialised outdoor models and people can spot them. Incredible.

Thanks for pictures - makes me want one up there even more now.

If anyone has a spare Wilton they took off their truck and want to get rid of, I'm certainly interested. My deuce has the spot for the vice, but no vice sadly.

Too bad gents, earlier this year I sold a pallet of brand spanking new Wilton 1765 vises for $175 each! Nope, none left over!
