All,

In my quest for some M101/M105 trailer bows, I found the GOVT manufacturer that made the 101/105 bows I needed, and he also is currently in production of 2.5 and 5 ton new style bows and crossmembers. I didnt ask for prices on his 2.5 and 5 ton items, so if you need something shoot him an email.

He doesnt have any more bows for the M101/M105. I didnt ask, but Id assume that he DOESNT have any for the M37. I figure a well written email asking what he does/doesnt have might answer a bunch of our questions.

PLEASE NOTE:

I just talked to the gentleman. He is willing to help us, but we need to talk Part #'s to him, not "I need bows for a M35A2" He is sending me a list of the items he has, and I will take his part #'s and "convert" them to "bows for MXXX vehicle" We talk end item use, he just knows part #'s, as that is all the govt "speaks" to him in. Give me a little bit, I'll get this all worked out. He is willing to help us, but he doesnt have time for tring to figure out what we need when we speak end item use to him instead of part #. I'll do the translation and we'll be all set. OK?

emmando... when you get done with this, put it up as a Tech article? When I approve it, I will toss the link in this post as well...

J&J Tennis of South Central NY has had M35 bows made by some Amish craftsmen. I am resonably sure thet you can get them from Fred at Adirondack Dodge Parts and Don at Spruce Mountain Surplus.

Fred will ba at the Gilbert, PA Rally this weekend. If you will also be there give him a call by tomorrow and he may be able to bring some down. Both have websites, just do a Google search for them.

The bows for the M101 and M37 are not the same. The wood has the same cross sectional area, but the lengths off all the components are different. The corners are also different, the ones for the M37 have holes in them that you can pass a rope or strap through and have the bolts running parallel to the centerline of the truck, the ones for the M101 have no rope/strap holes and have the bolts running perpendicular to the centerline of the truck. You can use M101 corners on a M37, but you have to use the M35 style tarp roll up straps instead of the M37 style, and you can't run the front or rear curtain rope through the bracket (a small deal in both cases).

I have dimensions for both types of bows on my website at:

I took some photos yesterday in hopes that things would be clearer, but I am still having software problems so the photos are not on my bedwood page on my site. The photos are "stockpiled on one of my servers.

Photos of the M37 bows/corners are:

Photo 4 is likely the best one to show the corner on a M37 if you don't feel like looking at all the M37 ones.

Photos of the M101 bows/corners are:

Photo 1 is likely the best one to show the corner on a M101 if you don't feel like looking at all the M101 ones.

The dimensions for all the wood pieces is looked on my site at:
http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/bedwood.htm

I have yet to measure and photograph the bows on any of my M35's... But I will have to replace a couple of pieces of wood in the near future on one of them as I have a couple of splintered ones on the rear bow of a truck I just got into the yard, and the troop seats on another are a tad rough...

I'll post this over on the M37 section as well...

Good luck.

Joe,
What Aaron is saying is that this is a 2005 thread, so all the info is at least six years old. When you find such old posts, it's probably better to send a PM (Private Message) to the individual that seems to have the info you are looking for, instead of posting a new message on a very old thread.

If he did that, I wouldn't have seen the thread. :)
