I would think it would be timely to dump the old classifieds now.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Several times the idea of a "Classified Section Moderator" has been brought up, but the powers that be seem to prefer to be martyrs and do it all themselves. Mike had done a extensive query of classified issues, by a volunteer comittee of board members, and the concencus then was to have a seperate classifieds moderator.
A spelling test may be required.
Having also been one of the volunteers during that process, I have to say, I feel it was totally a waste of time. I never really saw anything gained fron our input. (and I still don't think there's a shortage of volunteers)Several times the idea of a "Classified Section Moderator" has been brought up, but the powers that be seem to prefer to be martyrs and do it all themselves. We have the vendor section, though it should be in with the classifiedsI have and idea.. now it doesn't mean it's a good one so don't crucify me for saying it but as a relative "newbie" I have been amounting my list of surplus parts dealers along the way with names found in posts and such... Perhaps it's a crazy idea but how about a "Ultra Membership" for the members who are truck or parts dealers. Create a section on the site where they could post a little blurb about their company with a link to their site.. perhaps there would be too much competition between the surplus guys but it sounds like a good idea to me at 5:30 on a Friday..? It would be nice to have all the contacts in one place when searching for that hard to find part.. again just my
Correct, click on resources at the top for the link. $15.just came in on this thread let me see if i got it wright you no longer need 200 posts to list items on classifieds just pay money for premium membership?
Unfortunately, we tried that approach previously. We ended up with ads people would place, sell the item, and never clean up their listings. Also we started low, like 10 posts. That spurred on tons of spamming on the board. So we bumped it up to 100. That only intensified the spamming.mehh....
- Unlimited classifieds
- Custom user title
- More PM inbox space
- Private forum
so... essentially it is $15 to be able to post a classified...
As far as being "invested" you should just limit posting in the classifieds to members that have posted X number of times... that shows more "investment" than $15... A retailer could give $15 and post ads to their warez and someone that has contributed to the forum and the community but not $15 can't.
Negative, regular membership is only able to place want ads. (At the moment anyway, seeing how it's already been abused, it might be retracted)Apparently not anymore. From my understanding, anyone can now post in the classifieds.
That's how it used to be. All that happened was a bunch of BS posts to get to the minimum. Seems to be working well currently. As far as being "invested" you should just limit posting in the classifieds to members that have posted X number of times... that shows more "investment" than $15... Then either pay the $15, talk to the group in chat, or pm someone who has a want ad.I've been on the site for years and I'd just like to offer my truck for sale to a place/people that are interested in buying an M1009...
Not looking to sell parts or warez.
We get it, advertisements are annoying!
Sure, ad-blocking software does a great job at blocking ads, but it also blocks useful features of our website like our supporting vendors. Their ads help keep Steel Soldiers going. Please consider disabling your ad blockers for the site. Thanks!
