Well All this work and I am getting a little more power but i think that is bc I turned up the IP pump.
Looking back it might have all started with my AC60 plug debacle. I put in new ac 60 g plugs but did not bypass the resistor. All my plugs burnt up. I left them all in and today i am replacing them and i found one old burnt plug 1/4 inch short. Maybe it got loose and messed up a valve. Going to make a new thread to get some recomendations.
Mine looked similar when I went to 60s and completed the bypass.

yesterday I drove 40 miles hwy and at Idle my truck was surging. After doing some research on here i decided to go work on it today and the gremlins are gone. Not surging and running fine. Im sure the surging will return. I made awhole new thread on my "surging" issue, but wanted to continue my problems in this thread as well because it might all be related.

6 days later from my surging issue... My truck ran well today. it even had some good pick up. the kind that rocks you back in your seat. I dont know why today it is running good and not smoking. I am burning WVO 60% Diesel20% and gas 20%
Im sure the Gremlins will return. I really think my problem has been carbon on the injectors. i was burning some waste motor oil. Maybe the veggie oil is cleaning my injectors. Maybe the piece of chicken worked its way out of my Injector pump??

Has the truck been running well since? I am experiencing a little power loss and wondered about my injectors. It looked like yours were pretty fouled up.

Any update would be greatly appreciated as I am having a near identical problem. I was 4 qts low on oil (yeah, i know..) and topping it off seemed to fix the lack of power and surging problem I was having.

A Gallon low, thats substantial. What alerted you to check the level? Do you know where the oil went? I'm guessing it was burned since that would leave a massive oil slick in the driveway.
I started having what I thought was a fuel supply problem and started checking everything. I knew I was due for an oil change and I had noticed a small leak from the hole in the bell housing, so I checked the oil while I was at it. I was stupid for not checking it sooner.

If you are planning on going out and runnin the crap out of it and you do in fict have a stuck injectors then you will be searching for a new engine. Be careful, You are deffinately dumping to much fuel. To much fuel means to much heat to much heat means melt down....

I see the problem is solved so disregaurd. I have a hard time believeing the oil change fixed it. Unless it was very low on oil and the friction was makeing the motor struggle.
hey big block could this cause the engine to run louder then usual clanker then usual? I am having some of the same issues but they are intermitten. My truck is blowing more smoke then usual and clanking andpinging worse then usual two days ago. Now its seems to be fine?

Pull the original fuel filter. Connect a fuel hose from the inlet port to the outlet port with the filter off. Start it up. If it runs and has power, you fuel filter is clogged. This could solve all of your problems.

Today I am installing an electric fuel pump...will see if that fixes the surging... I think my IP is creating a vacume and sucking air into the lines and that my fuel pump is not working.

I know this isn't directly related to the conversation but i tried to advance my ip today, so i loosened all three bolts up and was banging on it with a hammer and a chisel to try and advance it but it wouldn't budge any advice and tips would be great and what would be a good spot to have it? I'd like to be able to have a little more hp. What should be the max you should advance it or retard it? This is my first car and I'm still learning A LOT about it.

Was it running poorly before? A timing adjustment would only help if it was no good before. I had no trouble with mine when I had it rebuilt. I would be careful with the hammer and chisel!

Turning the fuel up will increase the power. If your IP is in good health that may be worth looking into. Otherwise a rebuild will help the most. 25+ yrs can take it's toll.

Other then the sometimes really hard starts after i've been driving it for a while. Like how long does it take to get up and going to about 45 from a dead stop? Thanks

Installed electric fuel pump...still no flow... Then i checked...My fuel filter was clogged... Now I have a back up electric pump.
Im suspicious that my wvo filter is done and the last batch of wvo is not filtered properly and now I am going to pump out all my fuel with my new electric fuel pump and refilter it all.....
The fun never ends.
